GMAC Film aim is to broaden access to film making. Offering low cost access to facilities, specifically film making equipment and space it offers an array of training programmes, with a special interest in creating opportunity for those from social groups under represented in the industry.
GMAC Film receives no core funding: it is funded through sporadic project grants and self-earning. For example, it hosts major film and TV productions such as World War Z, Angel’s Share and Cloud Atlas. All these social enterprise activities need strong brand communications to generate income.
We initiated a research phase with new entrant film makers, industry professionals and funders. From this consultation we created a vision document that formed a springboard for brand development. Our goals were to enhance visibility, transparency and charisma of GMAC. We began by renovating the marque, improving its clarity. Subsequently we developed infographics to reveal the arc of GMAC’s training provision, from school to first film. Finally we created a website based around a hub of digital word and picture assets, and provided training to allow GMAC personnel to take over the running of the site themselves.
