Stuff

Client

‘Stuff’ was developed as part of the implementation the European Union Structural Funds Programme in the Western Scotland region. It involved 12 Councils, Scottish Enterprise and the five Local Enterprise Companies in the region, and the West of Scotland Colleges’ Partnership. An educational and promotional resource, Stuff deals with change and having ‘better conversations about new stuff’.

The Problem
The core challenge was to find an new way of introducing new things. The problem underlying this was that innovation means different things to many organisations and has profound cultural and delivery implications. In addition an element of the project required to be suitable for dispersal to EU entrant countries.

The Solution
‘Stuff’ was developed as animation to translate potentially complicated ideas without relying heavily on language. A concept was developed the delivery of a valuable package, stuff that transforms itself and those who come into contact with it. Case studies and guides were included to back this up. An important focus of the screenplay is the diversity in the team and the relationships between everyone involved. ‘Stuff’ ultimately resolves to 6 key points about creating good stuff. “No arrogance; piggyback on others ideas; listen to younger people; have a diversity of people on the team; don’t dismiss ideas too soon; celebrate success”.
